I run production infrastructure on the European cloud.

Since 1997, I have been designing, automating and operating Unix and Linux systems in production. My focus: European cloud (OVHcloud, Clever Cloud, OpenStack, bare metal), HashiCorp tooling, observability and data clusters.

What I do

Sovereign cloud, from bare metal to PaaS.

OVHcloud (Public Cloud, bare metal), Clever Cloud, Scaleway, OpenStack. I pick the right level of abstraction for each workload and keep infrastructure portable. Among other things, I designed a health-data (HDS-certified) hosting environment at OVH.

Lean orchestration and HashiCorp tooling.

Terraform, Packer, Consul, Vault and Nomad for platforms the team understands and can operate. Containers, LXC/LXD, FreeBSD jails: the tool follows the need, not the other way round.

Observability and operations.

Metrics, logs and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana and Loki (and, before them, Zabbix, Graylog, Icinga). Production you can see is production you can change with confidence.

Distributed data.

Clustered databases and message buses (Kafka, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, CouchDB, OpenStack Swift object storage): deployment, monitoring, backups, upgrades.

  1. 1997–2009

    Linux, Unix and Solaris: self-employed, then Unix administrator, then self-employed again (engagements for IBM Global Services, Orange Business Services, EDF-GDF)

  2. 2009–2014

    Solaris systems engineer at RTL, then Orange Business Services

  3. 2014–2016

    Engagements in Ireland, France, Moldova and Switzerland (including Mirantis OpenStack on OpenCompute hardware at AXA)

  4. 2016–2018

    DevOps at OVH, then Cozy Cloud

  5. 2018–2020

    CTO at yourITcity, then Neuva; cloud consultant; trainer at École 404

  6. 2020–2023

    Freelance DevOps/SRE (OVH Public Cloud, Scaleway, OpenStack)
